Walk leaders when planning walks should stay on public rights of way (footpaths, bridleways, and byways) especially when crossing farmland or private property, and be aware walking on private land without the landowner's permission is considered trespassing in England and Wales.

The Walks should be around four miles long.
The walkers are a very sociable friendly group.
Everyone is welcome.
Walks are both rural and urban and walked at a steady pace.

The shorter walking group meets twice a month, walking at a steady pace in the relatively local area. It is a very friendly group and walks are no more than 4 miles. There is no limit to the group size and no commitment to take part in every walk. Brief details of each walk appear in advance on the u3a website. but you can contact the group convenor, details are on the Newsletter and in the Members Area:

10.30am, 4 miles. Park at Haltemprice Sports Centre. Mainly road walking with a stretch on old railway line to Willerby, then one fieldside path. Hopefully not too muddy!

10.30am 3.6 miles. Roadside parking - please avoid damaging the grass verge! Footpath towards Brough, up to Brantingham, to Woodale and return. One steep uphill and descent.

10.30am Park on Corby Park, North Ferriby, at the A63 end. Walk up through Terrace Plantation, along Wolds Way to Welton, back through Melton to cross A63 on footbridge then underpass back to North Ferriby. Slight inclines.

Park on Church Road/Ings Lane and meet at the railway bridge.
Approx. 4 miles, linear walk. Flat walking past the Riding for the Disabled Centre, along the riverside to Hessle and return.

Park in the car park on Goodmanham Road. Approx 3.6 miles circular along paths, old railway track to Market Weighton and back to Goodmanham. Some walkers may wish to lunch at the Goodmanham Arms.

Park at Kiplingcotes Station, Hudson Way (next to Kiplingcotes Furniture). This walk is approx 3.83 miles along old railway track (Wilberforce and Hudson Way), turn left on footpath towards then alongside Etton WestWood then turn left onto Etton Westwood Road. At the crossroads turn left onto Kiplingcotes Road then at junction at Fisher Street turn left onto track to station.

 Park on Main Street to access public footpath near the church. Walking along the Oldgate track to Dunflat Road and return. Approx 3 miles

 Park on Cowgate in Welton village. Meet outside the Memorial Hall to walk up Chapel Hill towards Bow Planation and Welton Wold Farm. Return via Welton Dale estate. One steep uphill at start of walk. Approx 3.25 miles.

 Park in children’s play area car park opposite the church. Approx 3 miles walk to Hotham on fieldside paths and roads. The coffee wagon should be open on our return through the park!

 Considerate parking on Northfield Close, to access footpath in top corner. Walk to Everthorpe then across to Cave Castle golf course and return via church Hill.

Flat walking alongside golf course to Carr Lane, Wood Lane and Cottingham.
Return past Haltemprice Priory remains which were being developed last time we did this walk.

 Walk starts 10.30am. Park carefully on the road track to the farm off Melton Bottom/Great Gutter Lane.
Walking to the farm and dam, then towards Nut Wood and return. Gentle incline at start. One short but steeper incline near Nut Wood.

 10 30am. Park near the footbridge at the bottom of Cowgate or in the village centre to meet by the footbridge. The walk will cross the footbridge, go down Common Lane, to the Humber bank then round Welton Water and return. Totally flat walk, approx. 4 miles.

 10 30am. Park in laybys on Swinescaife Rd – lorries will be going up and down from the quarry. Steep hill to start, then past quarry and vineyard towards Comber Dale, through Drewton Dale and return on A1034. Approx 31/4 miles
