Interest Groups are the lifeblood of Swanland u3a and over the last year we have been able to set up, or reopen, several new ones. Singing for Fun has been re-established with Gwyn playing his guitar to lead a group of enthusiastic singers.
Philosophy, Guitar and Poetry Reading have all been launched successfully meeting in members' houses and sharing the interests and knowledge of their members.
Music Discussion has also started, joining with Beverley u3a to make a viable group.
For more details email Joyce.

The Committee is often asked about day visits and holidays and we have also had a suggestion that a group could be formed to go to local places of interest. Visits are often more enjoyable when shared with like minded people and in the past all visits have had lots of participants. However they do need organising and this should be by the people taking part. This does not need to be onerous and could be shared by a group of people or people could take turns to organise something.
Local visits could be simple.

A few people could get together to go to a museum or gallery or get on the bus together to have a day in Scarborough. When feeling more confident members could car share, or again use public transport, to visit an exhibition, museum, National Trust property or stately home a bit further afield. The group would just need to get together to decide on a programme and a Convenor who could circulate information to members.
Local firms such as Acklams and Marion Owen travel could be used for day visits for larger groups of people and they would then take all the responsibility for the organisation of the day and the collection of moneys. The same applies to holidays with lots of adverts in the TAM magazine for group travel.
We just need a few people to volunteer to take the lead. Could this be you?
If any of the above interest you or you have any other ideas for new groups then please get in touch with the Groups Coordinator.

New Groups

Music Poster Music is a journey best shared. Since my teens, I've explored various musical avenues, and I am convinced that forming a u3a group would be a fantastic way for us to learn from one another while enjoying the spirit of collaboration.
