Day Trips
Swanland u3a Day Trips are a fun and relaxed way to get out and about with fellow members.
We may visit a wide range of interesting places: —
from pretty Market towns and Historic landmarks to Museums, gardens and Stately Homes.
It’s a great opportunity to explore somewhere new, enjoy good company, and make the most of the day without having to worry about the travel arrangements.
All you need to do is come along and enjoy the trip!
If you’ve got a great idea for a day trip, we’d love to hear it! To help make it happen, we just ask that you’re happy to lend a hand with a bit of the organising—like looking into travel, timings, or helping out on the day. It doesn’t have to be much, and there’s always support, but a bit of help makes all the difference and keeps things running smoothly for everyone.
TRIP A | TO BOMBER COMMAND CENTRE, LINCOLN, 10th JULY 2025
Pick-up time: 9.00am at Swanland Pond. It is an Acklams coach.
Departure from Lincoln: probably 3.00pm, with arrival in Swanland at about 4.30pm.
If you are using your car to get to Swanland Pond, there should be parking either outside Christ Church (next to the Pond) or along Main Street.
On arrival at the Bomber Command Centre, It has been arranged for a short tour for everyone by a couple of the expert-volunteers, after which you are free to explore the whole site at your leisure. There are excellent displays, films etc in the main Exhibition Hall, and there are interesting things to view outside as well - including the display of ceramic poppies.
TRIP B | TO WENTWORTH WOODHOUSE, T.B.C.
There are still spare places available for this trip.
The price is as follows:-
• £25.00pp for members of Historic Houses Association
• £38.00pp for members of The National Trust
• £42.00pp for non-members of these organisations.
We have been informed that Wentworth Woodhouse is CLOSED on Thursday 31 July, only the gardens are open on that date.
Therefore, unfortunately, this day trip has had to be CANCELLED.
The trip now will be re-arranged on a new date within the next couple of months.
All the members who have paid for this trip are, of course, guaranteed a place on a re-arranged date.
If a member finds this inconvenient and wants to withdraw then please contact the Secretary.
At the present time there are still have spare places for this trip - so if any other u3a member wishes to go, don't hesitate to contact the Secretary.
Swanland u3a Committee are really sorry for this enforced change of plan.
TRIP C | TO HORNSEA INSHORE RESCUE MONDAY 1st SEPTEMBER
Members will need to use their own transport to Hornsea, but we will try to arrange car shares for those without own transport.
Please let us know at the time of booking if you have or will need transport so we can arrange car sharing.
The cost will be £20.00pp which will include a tour of the lifeboat station followed by a fish and chips lunch (from the award winning Whiteheads of Hornsea)
